Fantastic Four could be Marvel's biggest film

In the announcement, there are hints about the venue, the characters that will be there as guests, and even some of the plot.

In addition to having a date (July 25, 2025), we now have a cast (Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn), as well as an official artwork, which is an illustration that hints to the return of the Fantastic Four. Now, to begin, it appears that this is the only thing we have.

Or is it not? The introduction of ‘Fantastic Four,’ Marvel’s first supergroup (and maybe the most iconic, perhaps even above Avengers and X-Men), has abruptly and unexpectedly restored optimism to fans of the series, leaving behind a period of time that has been filled with disappointments since ‘Endgame’. The allure of the Fantastic Four lies in the fact that they represent Marvel in its purest form. What fans require is a fantastic adaptation that lets us forget about the previous four Fantastic Four films.

At this point in time, approximately a year and a half before the release of the new picture, any speculation is considered to be valid. The fact of the matter is, however, that the illustration that Marvel shared on its social networks provides some hints that ought to be investigated, as it is possible that these hints reveal what is in store for us with this new adaptation. What are some of the shocks that are concealed within this announcement?

The most noticeable aspect of the advertisement is, without a doubt, the fact that it has a style that is blatantly retro. The uniforms and the very nature of the advertisement are significantly different from the hideous aesthetics and “basketball” texture that are prevalent in contemporary superhero films. Additionally, this is not the only piece of information that we have:

The Thing is in possession of a duplicate of Time that has already been located and takes us back to the year 1963. Let us not forget that in the previous episode, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” the Sorcerer Supreme had a conversation with Reed Richards, the alternative version of John Krasinski, concerning a possible 4F who had remained in the sixties. Even more impressive is the fact that Pedro Pascal has uploaded the poster to Instagram, accompanied by the song “All You Need Is Love” by the Beatles, which was released in 1987.

HERBIE, the good old
A more innocent and less cynical manner than the contemporary Marvel Cinematic Universe films, but always with irony on point, is suggested by the fact that the setting is retro. The appearance of HERBIE, a robot whose initials equate to Highly Engineered Robot Built for Interdimensional Exploration and who was born in the 1978 animated series, where he replaced the Human Torch, is evidence that those were different times for superheroes. This is proven by the fact that HERBIE was present. A well-known and captivating actor will most likely be the one to lend his voice to the character. The betting is open.

Keep the vintage alive!
It is important to note that when we talk about retro, we are not simply referring to the vintage era. The poster itself emanates a vintage air, both in terms of the fonts and the very nature of the ad itself, which is a direct reference to Matt Shakman, who is the director who has been assigned to the project.

You only need to remember the variety of tones and styles that peppered the credits and settings of the series (and more importantly, not as empty homages, but with argumentative justification) to know that the style of this advertisement is more than just an aesthetic decision. Shakman was the person responsible for “Wandavision,” and you can tell that this advertisement is more than just stylistically pleasing.

Since we never really liked the look of its different iterations in the cinema (with the exception of the extremely inexpensive 1994 version, which was the one that was most faithful to the comics), we had already said that we preferred this Thing on the poster when the announcement was made. Nevertheless, the photograph in which we see Ben Grimm in his human form not only enables us to verify that Ebon Moss-Bachrach will play the role of Ben Grimm, but it also provides a hint about his history. The photograph is a standard NASA photograph from the time period of the Apollo Apollo missions. Is it possible that this indicates that Grimm will be a member of the space agency?
